Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry red lentils

  • 90 grams of salted tortilla chips

  • 1 onion (180 grams)

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 20 grams parsley

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast

  • Olive oil for frying (2 tablespoons)

Directions

  • Boil the dry red lentils in water for about 5 minutes, then rinse and drain them thoroughly.
  • In a food processor, combine the boiled red lentils with the chopped onions and garlic. Pulse until you achieve a finely blended mixture. Transfer this to a large mixing bowl.
  • In the same food processor, add the tortilla chips and pulse until they turn into small crumbs. Mix these crumbs into the lentil mixture.
  • Chop the parsley finely and add it to the mixture, along with the salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, and nutritional yeast. Combine everything using a spoon or your hands.
  • Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions, shaping them into burger patties.
  • In a frying pan, heat two tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Fry each lentil patty for about 5 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown.
